Innovation is key at Sullivan as evidenced by their work with client DIRECTV. The agency was engaged to help DIRECTV increase their subscriber base by structuring marketing alliance with key retailers. The challenge was to develop an effective way to deliver a consumer offer that was not viewed as disruptive to the retailer’s operations. Sullivan invented a unique solution whereby offers were inserted into the retailer’s check-out bag prior to the bags being delivered to the store. As a result, the operational requirements placed on the retailer were ZERO. The program was implemented at leading retailers, including; Macy’s, AutoZone, Office Depot, CVS, Menards, and Bed, Bath & Beyond. The results were outstanding. The program generated over 200,000 new DIRECTV subscribers annually over a 4-year time horizon.

In the motorsports arena, Sullivan’s clients have included: NASCAR, Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Daytona International Speedway, Grand American Road Racing, International Speedway Corporation, the Rolex Sports Car Series and AMA Pro Racing. While Sullivan is clearly the most successful motor sports facility developer in the last thirty years, his firm is best known for their accomplishments in the sponsorship arena. Among the firm’s most notable accomplishments is having secured the title sponsorship for NASCAR’s premier series, the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series on behalf of its client NASCAR. The agreement was reported in the in the media as having a value in excess of $750 million making it the largest in U.S. sports history.

Mr. Sullivan

was given the moniker “The Billion Dollar Man” after successfully closing both the $750 million Sprint/Nextel and the $100 million SUNOCO – “The Official Fuel of NASCAR” alliances, programs totaling $850 million, within a six-month period. Prior to founding SWMG, Sullivan was Director of Marketing at Kraft’s Maxwell House Division. Following his seventeen year tenure at Kraft he went on to join the senior management team at International Speedway Corporation. As a Company Officer at ISC he simultaneously held positions as:

Mr. Sullivan serves on the Board of Directors of Saint Brendan’s School, the Daytona State College Foundation and the Community Foundation of Volusia and Flagler Counties. He lives on the Intracoastal Waterway in Ormond Beach, Florida with his wife Vonda.  They enjoy running their dogs in the surf at the beach, international travel, biking, skiing, boating, golf, cooking, and entertaining.
